WHAT'S GOING ON THIS SEASON              .

MONTHLY SOCIAL PROGRAMS
SATURDAY 10/23 (6-9 pm)

In 2002 Kenn became a new Windsong student in pursuit of a sailing dream.

In 2004 Kenn bought a 1959 41' Rhodes Bounty Sloop to fullfill his dream of a solo world circumnavigation.  The boat needed some patient and caring hands to complete it's renovation. Kenn needed the ship to realize his dream.

Kenn is presently A.S.A. Advanced Coastal Cruising certified and has several offshore voyages to his credit.

Come hear the story of a chapter in his pursuit toward his dream.

Kenn Knerr's dream is to sail Sparrow around the world non-stop and solo. In the continuing effort to find out how to do this, Kenn went to England to gather Pilots and Admiralty charts. The trip was timed to coincide with the start of the Quadrenial Transat Race. This month's presentation contains his observations and pictures of the fine city of Plymouth, England and some of the charts and references used by the magnificent boats that will be sailed in the Vendee Globe, and results from the shorter but dramatic Transat finish in Boston. Come hear his story and share this chapter of his dream.

Due to the limited seating capacity of the Sailing Center, reservations are required in advance.

The programs are free of charge, but volunteers and snack contributions are encouraged.

If you'd like to contribute any of the following items or any other dish that is your specialty
call us today. Together we'll plan for these fun events.

Chips & Dip
Cookies & Brownies
Cake
Soft Drinks (Sorry, no alcohol)
Finger Snacks
Frozen Shrimp Platter
Crackers & Cheese
Nuts

Capt. Dave's Tips Okay this is going to be a reach for me, but in the interest of doing something different, I've been asked to offer a monthly suggestion of something FUN to do for active families.  Well I tend to have the reputation of doing things other just wish could happen.  This month it involved a bit of salesmanship, which I've been accused of doing from time to time.

I called Simone Davis, Special Events Manager, at Dave & Busters in Gwinnett and told her that Gwinnett needed a comedy club and that Dave & Busters was the closest opportunity for one.  I found Simone to be very open and receptive to all my suggestions so she promised to go to work and see what she could procure.  After about 2 months she called me back and said that October would be their test pilot month for comedy.

So at 8 pm on 10/15, 22 & 29 there will be three weeks of improvisational comedy at the restaurant at the unbelievable price of $5 per person (Over age 21), plus whatever your drink or eat.  Okay guys, the gauntlet has been tossed.  I'd like to propose a "Windsong Fun Night" on 10/22.  Let's show our strength and influence in numbers.  Dinner, although dangerous while laughing hysterically, is great at Dave & Busters. This should be a fun night for everyone.  Dave Cummings will be the Headliner with Ron G and Tim Miller hosted by Dan Fontaine.  I want a head count of folks to save table space for so it's "First Come, First Serve".  Let me know who's coming ASAP.

LOOKING FOR
SOMETHING NEW?
October 17th our newest addition to the fleet sets sail. If you're looking for some new excitement, try our Trimaran.  Leisurely cruising at 12 knots while sitting only 18 inches above the water can be one of the most exciting experiences you'll have under sail.  And that's only the beginning!

A multi hull is as similar as it is dissimilar to mono hulls.  Twin headsails, a huge mainsail and three hulls provide fast acceleration and a smooth ride.  The sound of the hulls slicing through the water as the winds parts your hair is exhilarating.

Come be among the first to experience this newest addition to the Windsong fleet!  Reservations are "First Come, First Serve".

Windsong HATS

These superior quality white embroidered caps will be collectors items.  Not only are they extremely comfortable and easily adjustable, they are breathable and offer an extended bill to protect your face from the sun.  A good sailing hat IS hard to find and these will fit the bill for a number of seasons.

A $15 donation is requested.

All proceeds go toward equipment and other
special subsidized programs such as the monthly socials.

Thanks!
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all our students for their loyal support through the season(s) and encourage everyone to bring one new friend along each year as you sail.  As we grow and expand our operation, we want to make our products and services available to all who may be interested, but some one has to make the introduction.  Share the love of your sport with those who may be interested in our unique collection of programs.
